500 Days of Summer Review

A couple of weeks ago I was fortune enough to attend a screener for the upcoming film, 500 Days of Summer. From the moment I watched the trailer and heard “Sweet Disposition” by The Temper Trap, I fell in love. I was more excited about this film than any other film coming out this summer and I was not disappointed.

500 Days of Summer reminds one of what it is to be human. The story is universal. It is about love, loss, redemption and fate. It will remind you what it means to be human and what it was like to be young. The events in the movie will speak to anyone who has loved and had their heartbroken. Without giving away too much, 500 Days is about Tom Hanson’s (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) journey of love and loss with Summer Finn (played by Zooey Deschanel). Both Gordon-Levitt and Deschanel give excellent performances and left me enchanted. Everything was real. Their love, their fears, and their tears. Everything was real.

Though this film is far from being the best movie ever made, it is one of the best movies of this summer (tied with UP) so go out and see it when it comes out July 17th instead of watching that abomination of a film, Transformers 2: Revenge of Michael Bay/Return of Megan Fox.*

*This was the worst film I’ve seen in a while. I can’t believe I actually WAITED IN LINE opening night to watch it. Those who know me know how much I hate waiting in lines. The action was good but I was so overwhelmed by all the flying debris that I really didn’t give a crap about anyone who died except Optimus. I hated this more than Spiderman 3. Yes, I said it.
