I heard about how you could microwave a CD and totally obliterate it so I decided to try it today. This is useful for destroying a CD with information that you do not want anyone to ever see. And no, the CD I destroyed did not contain porn. Perv.

One second was too little but five was a little too much seeing as it crackled violently and left a burnt smell in the microwave. I would recommend 2 or 3 seconds but it also depends on the microwave so experiment. Just to be on the safe side, wipe down the inside of the microwave with some soapy water and thoroughly clean it out in case there’s some harmful chemical residue.
