Wired has an interesting report tonight on the state of new journalism. It seems that studies reveal that people still get their news from the so-called “mainstream” media still while blogs and amateur reporters are still on the back burner. The popularity of the internet was thought to be the deathbed of journalism and the death of the newspaper but journalists are rising to the occasion and adapting to the new medium of the internet. Journalists are now blogging and reading comments from their audience, creating an interaction between the audience and the reporter like never seen before. There are going to be many exciting changes in the field of journalism and I’m glad I’m going to be able to see and (hopefully) participate in them.
